Oct 9

Your vehicle's tires are an essential part. They are the only thing that can keep you safe on the roads. You can stay safe and save money by maintaining your tires properly. Proper maintenance of tires will last longer, reduce fuel consumption, increase driving performance, and contribute to road safety.

Make sure your tires are properly inflated.

Over-inflated or under-inflated tires can cause steering, acceleration, and brake performance problems. Check your tire pressure once a month, preferably before you go on a drive. You will likely need to adjust your tire pressure.

According to the Tire sales & services:

  • 70% of vehicles have at most one tire that is inflated.
  • 23% of vehicles have at most one underinflated tire by more than 20%. This increases fuel consumption and decreases the life expectancy of your tires.
  • 17% of vehicles have at most one tire that is more than 20% overinflated, which results in increased tire wear and decreased vehicle handling.

Is the tip Uncertain about your tire pressure? A small sticker on the vehicle information placard lists the correct pressure for your front and back tires. It is usually located on the driver's side, front, or back door. It is usually located on the driver's side, front or back door. Refer to your owner's guide if you are unable to locate it. You should not rely solely on the number on your tires' side. This is the maximum tire pressure and not the recommended one.

Rotate your tires regularly.

Rotating tires can prolong their life and increase their performance. Rotating your tires every 10,000-12,000 km or every six months is a good idea.

A wheel alignment is recommended.

To avoid uneven tread wear, have your wheel alignment done every year (about 25,000 km). Over time, daily impacts like potholes or railroad crossings can cause uneven tread wear.

Balance your tires.

Unbalanced tires can cause rapid and premature tire wear. Balance your tires every time you change, rotate or install new wheels.

Regularly inspect your tires.

Visually inspect tires when you check your tire pressure. Be on the lookout to see if there are any cracks or bulges in your tires, objects stuck in your tire, punctures, uneven tread wear, and so forth.
